Why I DON'T like the idea of customization

Postby Inquisitor » Wed Feb 08, 2012 12:15 pm

Hey guys...
Because customization is on everybody's mind/wishlist for SW:BF3 now, I'd like to point out why this actually is a bad idea.

One sentence: It doesn't fit into the Star Wars World.
I think when (in multiplayer) everybody runs through the battleground with their own armour pattern and colour, you lose the feeling of being 'just' one of an army of thousand soliders fighting on the huge landscape.

What I CAN imagine, though, is that all multiplayer-gamers have a rank, little victory-paintings or some (only optical; no gameplay-influencing) battle damage like on the images underneath my text on their armour, so you can see just by looking on their armour how skilled the players are.

I agree. If there's any customization, it should be limited to primary and secondary weapon sets. Character customization doesn't really fit in with a galactic war between two factions that have uniformed armies.

The battlefield 3 customization isn't bad and I would rather have that than nothing.

I'm unfamiliar with that system. How does it work?

You have classes like in battlefront and each class have their unique weapons/equipment that can be upgraded as you rank up. Same goes with vehicle upgrades.

Sounds like a good alternative;
On the other hand, everything will better than the Elite Squadron Character-Customizer... ;)

Actually, if it is done correctly they can still keep the feeling of being a part of a huge army by making it like in Assassin's Creed multiplayer, when you customize your character, some NPC's are being changed to look like you, I know they did this in AC, so that you can be more stealthy and not stick out but here they can make it so that you are not unique, unless you are playing a hero ofcourse.
