Forum Rules - Please Read

Postby Nitro » Thu Jul 01, 2010 10:03 pm

Hey guys.

I've noticed that in Scott's "FAQ" thread, he has asked for questions only and yet, I see people chit chatting and responding even after being warned by Scott.

From now on, any posts that are not questions will be deleted and the user warned. After 3 warnings, the user will be banned from the forums for 2 days.

This will also be used for regular forum use. I am going to come up with a general rules thread, within the next few days. Scott and I will discuss this in administration.

After 5 warnings, you will be banned for a week, anything after that may result in permanent banning. Both warnings and bannings are at the moderator's or administrator's discretion however and this is simply a standard.

Thanks.

Forums Rules - Please Read

Postby Nitro » Fri Jul 02, 2010 11:34 pm

Scott and I have come to the conclusion that members are posting useless posts to try to run their post count up. From now on this will not be tolerated as it is starting to clutter up the forums.

Posts that have no meaning and do not contribute to the thread will be deleted and the poster warned. After 3 warnings, you will be banned for the day.

Warnings apply to the rest of the following rules.

1. Be respectful of others at all times.

The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others. It is possible to disagree without being insulting.

2. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post which is long-winded, redundant and filled with angry, non-constructive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and helpful in the development of the website, but rants are disruptive and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise, clear manner and avoid going off on rambling tangents.

3. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts which are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community and will not be tolerated.

4. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude.

5. No posting of personal information.

Please respect the privacy of other members and do not give out information such as phone numbers and addresses. (unless strict permission is authorized)

6. Moderators.

Moderators regulate the forum and make sure topics are in the right place. They also can lock/delete topics at their own discretion. A Moderator can also report disruptive and rude behavior to an Administrator. A Mods decision is final.

7. Warnings and bannings.

Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum.
Such matters shall remain private between the admins and the user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through e-mail or private messaging. Likewise, discussions regarding moderator actions are not permitted on the forum. If you have questions regarding a post or thread, please contact a mod or admin.

8. Warnings and bannings continued.

Immediate banning from the forum can result from any of the following:
The posting of pornography; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned.

9. Spamming and bumping are prohibited.

Spam is considered to be repetitive posting of the same text again and again or nonsensical posts that have no substance and are often designed to annoy other forum users. Bumping posts in order to keep them near the top of the list is also prohibited. Posts of this nature are not conducive to community and are unwelcome.

10. Redundant threads will be deleted.

As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.

11. Impersonating.

Impersonating another forum member, moderator, administrator is strictly prohibited.
You are expressly forbidden from impersonating anyone else, including those named above, on the forum, even in jest.

This will result in immediate deletion & banning.

12. Advertising & Links.
You may not post advertisements in the forum. If you have a link and want it added, please do so in the links area on the main site, or send it to me and I will add it for you.

13. Profanity.

Profanity is not allowed and will not be tolerated. Swearing will result in a warning first followed by a banning if continued.

I'd also like to add that Jedi Council members can and will have their rank taken away if they get warnings too frequently. One every once in a while is okay but if it becomes a habit their rank will be gone.

EDIT: Nevermind. The rules are good. And it wasn't to run in my post count.

You just broke one though. It's not a constructive post and looks to be an attempt to run your post count.

EDIT: It may have not been an attempt to but it sure looked like one. Always make sure your post has a meaning to it and not just an affirmation.

Wait, why don't you just delete a non-constructive post when you see one.
(Just asking)

Go ahead delete my post.

We do. We also send a warning with a possibility of being banned so I wouldn't suggest asking us to do that to you.

Theoretically I suppose. It's more likely they'd lose their title.
