Games you love that no one plays(or played)

Exactly what it says on the tin.

Mine would have to be Mirror's Edge. I know there is a growing fanbase, but when I first played it when it came out, I felt like no one knew about the game.

Mirror's Edge is fantastic.

One game that I'm sure no one played, but if you did WOW, is Vigalante 8. Awesome game. Pretty old though. Aagh Real Monsters! is an even older game which was FANTASTIC. I loved it.

Oh, and don't forget about Modern Warfare 3

I didn't have Vigilante 8, but I sure as hell had Star Wars: Demolition.

Jedi Power Battles, The Phantom Menace game, and Obi-Wan were friggen great too.

As far as non Star Wars games go, i really liked Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012 (PS1), Amplitude (PS2), and BLACK (PS2/XBox).

Black was awesome, I think it came out just too near the end of the XBOX/PS2 lifetime to get a decent fan base.

My game that nobody seems to play: Sins of a Solar Empire, one of the best RTS games I have every played and still play (it even has a star wars mod, sending a Super Star Destroyer into battle is a beautiful sight) and it's getting a stand alone expansion soon

You actually like and know of that game? SOASET (Referring to Trinity) is one of my favorite games of all time. I love how long the games can take, and I also love having the 5 systems with like 200 planets, and I love that it's real time. I'm so happy that it's not just a game my friends from school and I play.

Now, for the games I enjoy, that don't get enough attention.

First, I would like to bring up the indie game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. This is a survival horror puzzle game where you take on the role of Daniel, a researcher working for a baron in the 1800s. This is a game set in a very creepy atmosphere where you are always at risk of losing your sanity. There are monsters roaming about that will hunt you down. Oh yeah, you don't get a weapon. When you encounter a creature, you have to use your wits and surroundings to escape. Not kill them. Escape. Essentially, you run like a chickenshit coward. The game is about immersing yourself in the game, not about beating it.

Second, I would like to bring up the old Microsoft game, Freelancer. This is a free roam MMO game set in... SPACE! You take on the role of pilot [forgot name] in a galaxy far away. You're essentially giving free reign on who you want to do missions for. The Liberty force, which is the "good" policing and naval force. There are also other good forces. Then there are the "evil" marauders or pirates, and rebels, et cetera. It's really good. And the multiplayer supports a truly massive number. And on the plus side, the world is huge.

Yeah its easily one of my favourite games of all time as well, what faction do you like to play as? I like playing Vasari, decent fleet strength and economy but the main selling point for me are phase stabilisers, giving you the ability to fling your fleet around a huge star system really quickly and I find it hilarious that the Orkulus can chase down enemy fleets.

I've never played empire at war but in Sins there is no campaign and this is basically the whole story line:



In a nut shell, Vasari are running away from something but have to stop in various areas of space to re-gather resources before moving on and have stalled when they couldn't conquer TEC, Advent are a fanatical religious civilisation who are on some sort of revenge crusade against the TEC and don't get on well with Vasari and TEC are just the unlucky, once peaceful civilisation being attacked by two relentless enemies.

The game play, everybody starts of in an empty star system (or group of star systems) with a handful of planets (or one if you like a really slow start) and you have to defeat the other players to win. You can only get to planets through phase lanes, so you have to hop from planet to planet to get across the star system.

You don't invade planets like Empire at war (I think that's what you do), you just bomb the hell out of the planet and re-colonize it.

The original game had the problem where the maps where too big compared to the fleet size, so if your empire got too big the enemy could easily find weakly defended spots and just blast through them and ravage a sizable chunk of your empire, which got very costly (defences became almost obsolete mid - late game as fleets become more powerful).

Entrenchment (1st micro expansion) fixed this by upgrading defences and gave players access to very expensive but powerful defensive structures called star bases that when fully upgraded (really expensive) could really cause a lot of trouble and hold out against entire fleets. This however, could at times really lengthen games out because some planets could be really really well defended and it costs a lot to break through the defences and whilst you lick your wounds the enemy would just entrench the next planet along if you didn't get moving soon enough, I combated this by having an attack fleet and a mop up fleet so I could keep the main offensive going whilst still taking the planets quickly.

Diplomacy (2nd micro expansion) gave you a huge array of diplomatic options that really livened things up, you could turn allies against each other, send mercenary pirates after your enemies, have joint research projects with other factions and more.

Rebellion (in development expansion) will give you titans (amongst other things) and sub divide the existing factions into loyalists or rebels, where you decide your affiliation mid game, giving you different research options etc

Titans are giant ships that will chew through anything you throw at them (except another titan), meaning if you wheel one out, you can just blast your way out of an entrenchment situation if it arises.

but yeah that's Sins trinity for you, if you decide to get the game I recomend you play a game through the origional first to get a hang of things before you go to entrenchment and diplomacy because the game is known to have quite a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of things becomes an extremely good game.
