Hey Battlefrontians.. our new partner Tuggie from GloomWalkers.com has made a great new video update on a few Battlefront 3 tidbits. He touches base on the GameSpy servers as well as the fact Sparks new game is probably past their “Alpha” testing phase.

After a few tweets with Spark, it’s apparent the game is passed the Alpha state in terms of the development cycle. Spark commented that the game is undergoing constant testing by a team, meaning that there is a build that is playable. This is good news in terms of the sooner we get to see the game, but this is usually where the most pain goes into development, in terms of regression testing goes. Simply put, their game is probably at the point or past the point that Free Radical’s was when the footage for Battlefront 3 was filmed. This is all just a guess, only based on some loose information provided by Spark.

Also a forum member from GloomWalker.com’s Forums has been tracking a Spark employee’s blog and it seems they have posted a few screens of *possibly* one of Sparks new games. Some of the photos could possibly be Battlefront 3, but I have my doubts.. You can check out the photos via the links from this post on the Gloom Walkers forums -> here.

Thoughts and opinions? As Tuggie says, don’t give up hope! Until LucasArts comes right out and says, “No Battlefront 3 for you!” .. I will always have hope! as should you!

Star Wars: Underworld – Live Action Series

Hey Battlefrontians, unfotunately there has been no news or developments on Battlefront 3 yet, so I thought I would post some other Star Wars news. As it turns out, there will be a new live action Star Wars series with the working title, “Star Wars: Underworld”. This in my humbled opinion is pretty sweet!

The storyline will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and according to IO9.com they have almost 50 scripts written!

Producer and longtime George Lucas collaborator Rick McCallum dropped some key hints about the long-planned live-action Star Wars TV show – the one that supposedly has 50 scripts already written and is just waiting for the costs of visual effects to drop before moving forward. McCallum revealed the show’s working title is Star Wars: Underworld, it is indeed set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, that “it’s about that period when the Empire is trying to take things [over]“, and that the show’s primary focus will be on the criminal underbelly of the Star Wars universe. McCallum elaborates:

“It’s underneath what’s going on. It’s the criminals and the gangs. The guys who are running Wall Street, basically. The guys who are running the United States.”

GameInformer Reveals Battlefront 3 in January?

*UPDATE* As you all probably know by now, this is not Battlefront 3. Turns out to be XCOM: Enemy Unknown.. not too sure why they were saying everyone was going to be so excited for this one…

Happy New Year my fellow Battlefrontians!! I hope that you all had a wonderful Holiday and a Happy New Year! What a great way to start off the new year, by having a fresh new rumor!

I would also like to take the time to announce our new partnership with Tuggie Game Reviews!, be sure to check out all of their great videos! I will be announcing the details of our partnership in the next post.

So… it appears that rumors are flying around the web in full throttle about GameInformer possibly revealing Battlefront 3 this month! This first site (sent in by Quentin Karn – thanks!) StickSkills.com seems to believe that it is possible that GameInformer is getting ready to pop the huge announcement of Battlefront 3.

We have known for awhile that Spark Unlimited is most likely to be the ones that are currently developing Battlefront 3 and this post by GameInformer seems to think that it may be possible also.

The evidence is pretty thin, but the twitter population seems convinced.

There are only two real pieces of evidence that have lead people to believe that Spark Unlimited is working on Star Wars: Battlefront 3. One, on its website Spark Unlimited lists in its job section that, “We are in production on an unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release.” The other piece of evidence, is that it simply isn’t flat out denying that Battlefront 3 is the title it is working on, on twitter. Every inquiry is met with a, “you’ll have ask Lucas Arts about its franchises, we’re just a developer, not publisher,” response.

It’s not much to go on, but it’s possible.

Spark Unlimited only has a few games under its belt with Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and Legendary. It seems more likely that they could be working on a new Call of Duty having experience in the franchise already, but twitter seems to think otherwise. We will know more next year when official announcements start rolling out.

They are correct at the moment.. as we still do not have any concrete evidence that Battlefront 3 is in development, but what makes it more possible is the fact that no one is denying or dismissing these rumors as they are surfacing

Spark Unlimited – Public Disclosure Expected Sometime in 2012

Hey Battlefrontians.. I know that it has been awhile since my last post, but there just hasn’t been a whole lot worth while to report on.

The Video Game Awards have come and gone once again… and again, we are disappointed that no news for Battlefront 3 has been released or hinted upon. A few new developments from Spark Unlimited have been posted including a recent announcement that states the following:

We are in FULL PRODUCTION of a high-profile, popular game property for a major publishing partner. With the public disclosure expected sometime in 2012, we are looking for innovative and creative professionals to bring to life a Triple-A game for an awaiting, highly critical audience. Employing agile techniques (SCRUM) we are developing this product utilizing our experiences with the Unreal engine.

This is, of course what we hope will be announced as Battlefront 3!.. and the description seems to match up with the credentials that Battlefront 3 would need. I wonder when “sometime in 2012″ will be…. ugh..

As it turns out as well, Spark is currently working on two unannounced projects. The other, which pre-production started in November states:

We started PRE-PRODUCTION in November 2011 to develop a Triple-A Combat Adventure for a world-wide publisher. We are looking for innovative professionals to be members of a core creative team to bring to the console and PC markets the vision of an accomplished game director.

Other than that, there hasn’t been a any new developments.. at least that I’ve heard of..

Spark Unlimited Tweets Star Wars / Battlefront References?

Soooo.. my Battlefrontians, as I’m sure that you have all been reading, it seems that Spark Unlimited may have been tweeting some very interesting references.. Spark still hasn’t, and probably will not leak any information about this super secret game that they are currently working on… But instead, could they be giving some subtle hints on what they are actually working on?

For example:

The other reference is a little more vague and could probably be passed off as a coincidence, but none the less it is definitely something…

A Few Small Updates; LucasArts Domain & VGA’s

I hope all is well with all you Battlefrontians! It’s been a long, long time since my last post so I figured I would take the time tonight to do a quick post with a few updates. This is probably the longest drought for no news in a very long time… If Spark Unlimited is making Battlefront 3, then they are doing one hell of a job of keeping it secret and they deserve a round of applause for it.

To the news.. well.. more like information.. LucasArts have renewed their domain, starwarsbattlefront3.com until October 19, 2013. This, in my opinion, is great news.. at least it will keep our hopes up for at least another 2 years!

It’s that time again as well where the buzz for the 2011 VGA’s starts stirring, and whether you like it or not, they are fast approaching! Not much has been announced yet, but we will be definitely keeping tabs on any tidbits!

Spark Unlimited & Gamespy = Battlefront 3?

News has been pretty dry around here lately, so there’s not a whole lot to report on. A great spot by LucasArts board member RED LEADER 3000, shows that one of this jobs (Multi-player Front-End Engineer) requirements is to have experience with “Gamespy Servers”…

“Experience with online game service APIs, particularly Xbox Live, Sony NP, GameSpy, and Games for Windows Live.”

Now, we all remember the big Gamespy find quite some time ago that revealed that GameSpy had Battlefront 3 listed on their servers and as far as I know they are still there.. Can someone confirm this for me?

This obviously doesn’t necessarly prove anything, but it does help solidify our belief that Spark Unlimited’s super secret project is Battlefront 3.

QUESTION: Can you guys inform me if your project will support gamespy as a booth for online gameplay? Please dont tell me that the answer has to come from the publisher because the question doesnt reveal or expose anything what youre working on. Thanks, James

ANSWER: I cannot release any details about the project which is not already revealed on the website. Such middleware licensing relationships are amno for the marketing and PR folks. You will have to wait for the publisher announcements of such details. From my experiences, I tend to see publishers rollout out such tidbits of information month by month to build awareness and anticipation of a game prior to release. I can’t blow a hole in the publisher’s marketing plans by telling you now.

That is excactly what we have seen with the events of gamespy servers. And yes, the gamespy servers is still online, alive and well! They have gamekeys, that is almost like the game is 100% real.

What’s LucasArts Working on? Open-World RPG?

LucasArts has posted a new job advertisment for a Gameplay Engineer (For an Open-World RPG)! Game Informer has a sneaky suspicion that it may Knights of the Old Republic 3! This is kind of exciting.. even though it is probably not Battlefront 3, a Knights of the Old Republic 3 would kick some serious ass.

From Game Informer:

“Could LucasArts finally be delivering the single-player sequel to the Knights of the Old Republic so many Star Wars fans have been clamoring for?

The two Knights of the Old Republic games left some narrative threads dangling and many questions unanswered. Most importantly, what was the unknown threat that Revan set out to face in the Outer Rim after defeating Darth Malak and destroying the Star Forge?

LucasArts creative director Clint Hocking, whom you may remember from such Ubisoft titles as Splinter Cell and Far Cry 2, recently tweeted that the company is hiring a gameplay engineer for an “open-world RPG.” Could this be the long anticipated KOTOR revival?”

QUESTION: are you able to inform us who the publisher is of the unanounced project? – Jacob

ANSWER: To disclose the publisher would be tantamount to revealing the game. Since the publisher (who controls all sales and marketing information) wants to manage “the reveal”, they will also remain “unannounced” at this time.

All Quiet on the Battlefront… 3.. Some Hopeful Insight!

So, not much has been happening in the last few weeks.. in fact.. it’s been extremely quiet. Spark Unlimited have set up a question and answer section on the bottom of their website, but unfortunately, they are still not providing any insight into their super “secret” game. Their latest question answer being:

QUESTION: Hi, I would like to ask if the game your developing is the long waited Star Wars: Battlefront 3 or if it has anything to do with Lucasarts. I heard from other people that you just said that they had to take that with Lucasarts but, it is next to impossible to contact Lucasarts. No matter what game you guys are doing, it is in my beliefs that you will make a great job -Jakob

ANSWER: We are the solely the developer of games. The publisher controls said properties. All announcements, information and/or materials must come from or coordinated through the publisher. If you want word on Battlefront, you need to contact LucasArts.

At this time, we are prohibited from talking about who we are working with or working on either through affirmation or processes of elimination. So, I can neither confirm nor deny what we are working on or whom we are working with.

Which of course, is something that we already knew…

Our good friend Rainz has also sent in his insight and offers up some great points.

As you know, on Spark Unlimited’s website, they had an unannounced project presumed to be Battlefront 3, “with the public disclosure of the title still months away”. And that particular bit of info was posted on the website in January.

As we are now in August, many of us were confused about when this “unannounced” project would finally be shown to the public. It was not announced at E3 or at Comic-Con. Now many of us have possible ideas about when Spark would reveal it’s title: When the Blu-Ray collection of Star Wars is released on September 16th, or during Spike VGA’s in December, or even at next years E3! While those dates may or may not be accurate ideas, I’ve come up with another.

LucasArts has had two anticipated titles, Star Wars Kinect and The Old Republic, in the spotlight during their past showings at events, with both games having a suggested release date of the 2011 Holiday season, Kinect with a suggested Christmas release, and The Old Republic with a late November release.

When Spark Unlimited was asked about the release date for their title, they replied with this “The release date is solely at the publisher’s discretion. It is subject to change and has changed. It is still months away until it isn’t.”

My opinion is that LucasArts will hold back on announcing future titles until these two games are released. It would feel out of place to announce a new project in the middle of all the hype. My best guess is they will probably announce it about 5-6 months after these two games are released when all the excitement surrounding Kinect and Republic has died down.

I would have to agree that LucasArts will be more reluctant to bring out another huge title like Battlefront 3 while being in the middle of The Old Republic and Star Wars: Kinect.

Lets hear some opinions! Lets get some faith and hope rolling again Battlefrontians!

Still No Battlefront 3… Your Comic-Con Opinion?

Well Battlefrontians.. another major event.. another major disappointment. At this point, I know that a lot of people are really starting to get frusterated and give up hope… but I am not. Until Lucasarts directly comes out and says that they are not making Battlefront 3, I will always have hope.

The “exciting” announcement from Lucasarts at Comic Con.. well.. wasn’t so exciting in my opinion. It’s pretty cool, but it’s not really what I had in mind.

Our good friend Rainz also chimed in with some words of disappointment.

Well, our hopes of LucasArts announcing BattleFront 3 at Comic-Con were shattered today. At the LucasArts panel, they revealed new information on their Star Wars Kinect title (Lightsaber functions, podracing etc.) They also hinted a realease date for this Chrtistmas. Now that was to be expected, but I held my breath waiting for the “Suprising announcement” to be shown as Battlefront 3, but no, they told attendees they were going to be bundling the game, Kinect, and XBOX together. Needless to say, I was devastated.

Now it only looks like any chance of BF3 getting announced is when the Blu-Ray is released, or when the 3D remakes of the original trilogy hit theatres. But for now, all we can do is wait.

People are still saying that Spark Unlimited will be revealing their secret unannounced game in the near future and they are still convinced that it is Battlefront 3. At least we still have some hope!
