So StarWars.com has put up a countdown to May 4th, 2011 stating that at 6:00 A.M., “All will be revealed…</>“… but what exactly is “all revealed” referring to? This has caused a lot of stir up in the Star Wars community, with lots of new theories.. and old theories.. including the announcement of Battlefront 3. But by the looks of the, “Blu Ray Disc” logo on the Star Wars homepage, I would have to say that there’s a good chance that it has something to do with the Star Wars Blu Ray series that is set to debut on September 16, 2011.

But what could it be? This has definitely peaked my curiousity as countdowns are usually reserved for something big! Either way, May 4th (Also known as Star Wars day) is a great way to celebrate all that is the awesomeness of Star Wars!

Yet another post where I have nothing new to bring you guys in regards to Battlefront 3. There hasn’t been anything new in awhile and I’m starting to wonder if they are even considering a Battlefront 3.

The email that I sent to KillSpace Entertainment has gone un-answered so I suppose that could be taken as a good sign, or they just deleted it because they couldn’t be bothered writing back. I am at dead end when it comes to any leads so if you guys have anything at all, feel free to send it a long – admin@battlefront3.net

In other Star Wars news, the Saga will be released in 3D… Should be pretty cool, but I don’t think I’m looking too forward to seeing Jar Jar in 3D.. I may try to stab him and end up hurting myself. I’m curious on everyone’s thoughts on whether they are looking forward to the 3D release?

Last but not least, some of the biggest news going around is that, the project lead for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, has pretty well dismissed the rumors that The Force Unleashed 3 has been ‘canned’.. apparently they are still talks about it.

Thanks to: VG247.com

“Julio Torres, the project lead for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, has shot down rumors regarding the third installment of series being canceled.

Instead, he said a third Force Unleashed game is being “figured out”.

Speaking with SciFiNow magazine, Torres said a third game in the series would have to be looked at considering how The Force Unleashed II ends and how it would fit in with the timeline.

“Well I can’t tell you how the game ends because that would ruin it for you, but I can tell you that the timeframe for The Force Unleashed and TFU II is about a year, and there’s still, between that and Episode IV, a couple of years for us to play with,” he said.

“So that means no matter how the game ends for Starkiller and Vader for TFU II, we still have some time to figure out how we solidify the canon so that everything makes sense for IV.

“Obviously, if that were to be exposed, it would most likely be a TFU III. I’m just afraid I can’t share what that could be yet because we’re still figuring it out. I cautioned that…the key is that, that time is still left.

“If we had finished TFU II and we were up against the timeframe, we would probably have been done.”

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II releases on October 26 in the US and October 29 in the UK for DS, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.”

Well, this isn’t Battlefront news, but it is something that is quite unexpected and interesting. Today, according to IGN.com, the President of LucasArts, Darrell Rodriguez has officially resigned. Reasons for his resignation are still unknown, but maybe he realized that not releasing Battlefront 3 was the biggest mistake ever

LucasArts has confirmed reports that president Darrell Rodriguez has resigned from the company today. A reason for his departure was not provided, however.

“Darrell Rodriguez has resigned and we have initiated a search for a new leader,” the company said in a statement given to IGN. “Jerry Bowerman – a member of the Lucasfilm Board of Directors and a games industry veteran – will be stepping in to lead the LucasArts executive team during this transition. Lucasfilm remains fully committed to making great games and we continue to invest in our business.”

An unconfirmed report from Kotaku notes that several members of Rodriguez’s executive team have also left LucasArts. It’s believed these moves will have no effect on the titles currently in development. Rodriguez was named president of LucasArts in April 2008. Prior to joining the company, Rodriguez served as the COO of EA Los Angeles.

LucasArts recently announced the release date for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, the company’s most anticipated title of the year. The game will ship on October 26.

Let me know your thoughts!

So yeah… as everyone probably already know, the new Star Wars game that has been released on the VGA awards on Spike TV is none other than, The Force Unleashed 2…. YAY!!!!!

….. just kidding, i’m just as disappointed as the rest of you guys.

That was something that I honestly didn’t expect in a million years, especially when The Force Unleashed was such a flop. I guess there are going to be quite a few angry Battlefront fans out there, disappointed yet again. I’m actually kind of scared to log onto the LucasArts forums.. haha…

Well, it’ll be interesting to see The Force Unleashed 2 does in the long run, and don’t fret my fellow Battlefront fans, i’m sure we’ll get our game someday…. hopefully.

I would have been disappointed no matter the outcome, unless it was Battlefront 3, but I don’t think I would have been quite so let down, if the game was a new title like this rumored, “Star Wars: Legends”, we’ve been hearing about for the last few days.

The website that they announced was: Unleashed2010.com but it only takes you to the main Force Unleashed site.

“Samuel L Jackson took the to stage tonight at the VGAs and revealed the next Star Wars ttile.

Revealed this evening by Lucas Arts was Star Wars: The force Unleashed 2. The first trailer which premiered this evening showed an intrepid Jedi backed by the voice of Darth and Yoda enter an arena to take on a mighty beast with duel light sabres and some nifty force powers.

We’ll fill you in on further details when the dust settles next week and more information is forthcoming.”

Very interesting no?

*Apparently some people have been accusing me of stealing the gamestop link from some german Battlefront 3 website, which I didn’t, it was posted on my forums by someone, go look for yourself*

Ok today, we have a few interesting but non-battlefront 3 topics to cover today. First topic is obviously the now rumored Star Wars MMO based on The Clone Wars series. This is very interesting, i’ll be surprised if this it is true, I figured there wouldn’t be any other Star Wars MMO’s until at least The Old Republic gets released. Apparently Sony leaked some info to TenTonHammer.com during the PAX 2009 event.

“The latest of such incidents: Ten Ton Hammer has learned from an inside source that Sony Online Entertainment has once again partnered up with LucasArts to do another Star Wars MMO. While we have not yet learned the title of the upcoming game, it sounds like SOE is planning to use the browser-based Free Realms engine to power the game, and the game’s setting will be the Clone Wars. Does this mean Star Wars mini-games within the game, like the holographic chess-like game as seen in A New Hope? Unknown, but it would be cool to hit up a cantina with some buds and sit down for a few mini games.

A casual Star Wars MMO property was probably obvious in hindsight. Look no farther than LEGO Star Wars for proof that a fun, stylized version of Star Wars can sell big, attracted kids and adults alike. Plus, there was an unusually large focus on Star Wars Galaxies at this year’s Fan Faire, and perhaps this was in attempt to rekindle the SOE/LucasArts hype.

Too soon? Former and current Star Wars Galaxies players can still remember the sting of the NGE that changed the face of that game for everyone. SOE has repeatedly said that they have learned from their mistakes, and plan to not repeat them. If SOE isn’t expressly targetting the hardcore segment this time around, they (unlike BioWare) won’t have quite the same initial level of expectations to deal with.

Don’t let us give you the impression that SOE plans to take on BioWare, and their highly anticipated MMOG debut, The Old Republic, particularly given the engine the game is rumored to be based on. More plausible is that it will be based off the Clone Wars CGI animated film, offering a more stylized approach to the universe. Free Realms boasts over four million registered players, and a lot of this can undoubtedly be attributed to the accessibility and polish of the web-based engine. The initial download is exceptionally small, as the client downloads content as players explore the world. This formula seems more and more to be a key component to popular MMOGs, if the success of Free Realms and to a larger extent, World of Warcraft, is any indication.

So who’s the target audience of the game? Again, it’s unknown. It’s possible, though quite unlikely, that it will be aimed at a younger audience. More likely it will target a casual crowd of several generations who have had Star Wars ingrained as much into their culture as Burger King and McDonalds.”

The second topic is Lucidity. What exactly is this? Well apparently it’s what some people think that LucasArts is going to announce on September 10th. I hadn’t even heard of it until someone mentioned it on the LucasArts forums. Give me your impressions!

“An inside source close to Joystiq has informed us LucasArts is bringing a brand new game (imagine that!) to XBLA, coinciding with the company’s focus on downloadable releases as of late. Dubbed Lucidity, this title is described as a kind of side-scrolling adventure … with a twist. Instead of controlling the main character, Sofi, in the traditional manner, players instead place certain objects in her path as she independently navigates the gameworld. As she runs into these objects, she will use them to tackle whatever obstacle is in her way.

The game will definitely have a fantasy element to it, as it supposedly takes place inside of Sofi’s head while she’s looking for her grandmother. Let’s just hope there’s no big bad wolf waiting at grandma’s to gobble her up, though.”

Another game that looks pretty sweet is the upcoming Republic Heroes that is due out on October 6, 2009.

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Krome Studios and published by LucasArts and scheduled to be released for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.[3][4] The game is a tie-in to The Clone Wars television series. ”

I’ll definitely be picking this game up for the PC as I really enjoy The Clone Wars series, and this will give me something to play until *cough cough* they give me what I really want.. Battlefront 3..

Anyway, check out the great interview below:

“As Lee explains, the game lets you play as both Jedis and Clone troopers, each of which allows for distinctive types of gameplay.

“The Jedis are acrobatic; they use the Force; they use their lightsabers. And we’ve got a new move in the game where, as a Jedi, you can jump on any droid in the game and droid-jack them. All the droids have different moves, so you can use that against other droids, or you can use it to solve puzzles.”

Well, this is some interesting news. According to reports that are coming from various sites via a Twitter post made from LucasArts (“Our Prez just Finished an interview w/ @Gametrailers. Discussed new internal LucasArts IP. Tune in Sept 10 to hear whats up!”), they will be revealing their new “internal intellectual property” soon. Which basically means that they will be revealing a new franchise game, according to my own understanding.

Could this be Battlefront 3? It’s tough to say, it wouldn’t be a new franchise if it was Battlefront 3, or could they be doing some different with Battlefront 3? Kind of like what they did with Knights of the Old Republic? If it’s neither of the previous, i’m not sure what it could be. Some people are saying it could be a new X-Wing fighter game, similar to Rogue Squadron, which of course would be very cool, but it still wouldn’t be Battlefront 3!

“LucasArts will reveal their new internal intellectual property soon. The San Francisco based video game publisher and developer just finished an interview with GameTrailers discussing the new game. Here is the official Twitter announcement below:

“Our Prez just Finished an interview w/ @Gametrailers. Discussed new internal LucasArts IP. Tune in Sept 10 to hear whats up!”

Two big game conventions will be taking place between now and September 10th: GamesCom (August 19th – 23rd) and Penny Arcade Expo (September 4th – 6th). So you might be able to find out about the new intellectual property (whether if it is a new Star Wars franchise, return to the classic adventure genre or something completely different) before the interview with GameTrailers is shown.”

This caught my attention as well while watching some new information surface from this years E3 previews. I actually didn’t know that they were making this game, and to my surprise it’s going to be available for the PC, which I thought that LucasArts has abandoned.

In my humble opinion, i’m going to go with yay. From the preview at IGN.com I think it may not too bad at all and the trailer itself looks pretty decent as well.

Check out the interview from IGN and the trailer below:

The new Clone Wars game from Lucasarts, a third-person action title, will be set sometime between the first and second seasons of the animated TV show, tossing you into an original story against a new villain Kul Teska. Playing as Jedi heroes like Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, or Mace Windu, you’ll be able to battle droids using lightsabers and powers like force pushing. We didn’t get an opportunity to play, but we were told the controls are meant to be simple and accessible to allow anyone of any age range to play.

In total there’ll be 8 playable Jedi, and one of the more interesting abilities was called ‘droid jacking,’ where a Jedi character can jump up on top of a droid and slam their lightsaber through the victim’s head. By doing this the Jedi effectively gains control of the droid, allowing them to move around and cause damage while the period of control lasts. This works regardless of what type of droid you target, so it should help make the gameplay feel more varied, particularly if you decide to take advantage of the two-player drop-in, drop-out cooperative gameplay. In Jedi stages you’ll also find some simplistic puzzles to be solved using a variety of powers.

If you feel like experiencing something a little different, it’s also possible to play as one of 10 clone characters. These guys have a different style and abilities, focusing mostly on utilizing weaponry strewn throughout the stage. They can fire blasters, toss thermal detonators, and pick up special weapons in certain spots like a minigun to wipe out large groups of foes, or rocket launchers. Jetpacks also factor into the combat, letting you float around for a little while above the fray.

Also popping up during levels will be instant challenges, which trigger at certain points during stages. If you enter you’ll compete against squadmates in scenarios like battles and races for high scores. In the demo we were given, the visuals looked bright and cartoony and the action fast. The Jedi stage was set on in an old mining facility and for the clone mission we were on a planet in the Naboo system with an acidic atmosphere. In all players can expect 30 unique missions to battle through when the game ships this September for a ton of platforms.

We only saw the console version, so no word on the DS version. According to an official release, though, that game will feature some kind of touch screen functionality. Republic Heroes is also being built for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, PC, and in the United States only, the PlayStation 2.

Other than awaiting for someone, *cough – LucasArts – cough*, to announce Battlefront 3, we are getting an alternate version of another game we were all hoping for, namely, Knights of the Old Republic 3, which of course turns out to be called The Old Republic and just happens to be a MMO. To some people this is great, to other people this sucks. I’m still indifferent at the moment and I don’t know what to think.

At the first sniffle of a KOTOR 3 (me being a huge KOTOR fan), I got super excitied, hell I even created http://www.kotor3.net.. which i’ve kind of abandoned a little.. Now that it’s a MMO I don’t know if i’ll even bother with it. The trailer that was released the other day peaked my interest a little though, it actually looked pretty damn amazing! Although i’d gladly give up The Old Republic for a Battlefront 3, I may give this a shot when it first comes out.

Anyway, check out the demo below:

XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

Here’s a quick preview, thanks to IGN.com from E3 2009:

After viewing the trailer, the teams from BioWare and LucasArts loaded up the game for our first ever live demo. We started by exploring the new Bounty Hunter class and the first of two new planets for the game. The bounty hunter, Ayrik, begins on Hutta at the start of The Great Hunt, a massive contest organized by the Mandalorians and designed to find the best new bounty hunters in the galaxy. Through his mentor, Braden, Ayrik starts the game as one of the more likely candidates.

The interactions with Braden gave the developers a chance to show off the massive amount of voiced dialogue in this game. The Old Republic will be the first fully-voiced MMOs; all the NPCs as well as all the PCs will have full dialogue. Moreover, the main interactions with the NPCs will play out in cinematic cutscenes that allow the player to input their own responses in a Mass Effect-style dialogue wheel. As Braden introduces Ayrik to his companions, a Nar Shaddan tech specialists and a Trandoshan security officer, Ayrik has the option to respond in ways that emphasize his moods. Whether he responds with humility or arrogance, cruelty or greed, will impact the way the rest of the story unfolds.

After playing through the cutscene, Ayrik heads outside to explore Hutta. This is the first time that Hutta is being displayed in video game form, so we were happy to see the ways that the art team has rendered the industrial wasteland of this Hutt stronghold. Through the sickly green mists in the air ahead of us we can see the palace of the Hutts protected by screens of Fa’athra gangsters.

The bounty hunter has some impressive attack powers.
As Ayrik moved up to the palace, we had the chance to see the combat system in action. The bounty hunter is primarily a ranged attacker and makes use of special attacks like rockets and stun darts to maintain an advantage over his enemies. The requisite flamethrower attacks are thrown in as well for when the bounty hunter finds himself in need of some timely crowd control. All the abilities are triggered using a traditional MMO hotbar, but the actual action seems a bit more fluid and dynamic than the usual round-by-round combat in most MMOs.

The new Smuggler class also makes use of ranged attacks but doesn’t have access to the same armor that the bounty hunters can use. To help even the odds in combat, the smuggler can use a new cover system. We saw this in action on another new planet, Ord Mantell, where the smuggler was running guns to the Rebels in their war against the Separatists. The opportunity for cover is displayed in the environment as a faint green crouching outline. When the smuggler takes cover, he gains access to new abilities and is protected from the attacks of his enemies. Of course, not all the smuggler’s combats take place at far ranges. Should an enemy get too close, the smuggler can stun them with a quick kick to the crotch and then finish them off by shooting them in the head.
